Househunters could turn their dream home into a reality if they attend a Help to Buy weekend being hosted by a regional builder this weekend.

Persimmon Homes Thames Valley is holding its event at two developments on Saturday and Sunday September 30 and October 1. The event will run from 11am until 6pm on both days.

The two developments are Sherborne Fields in Basingstoke and Hatchwood Mill in Winnersh.

The focus will be on Help to Buy and Home Change, two schemes that have proved popular with both first-time and existing homeowners.

An independent financial adviser will be on hand to discuss the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme. People buying a new build only need a five per cent deposit along with a 75 per cent mortgage while the Government supplies a 20 per cent equity loan, which is interest and repayment free for the first five years.

Rachel Faulkner, Sales and Marketing Director for Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, said: “It is so easy for people to become trapped in the rental market, paying out large monthly amounts that leave little scope for first time buyers to raise the large deposit they need to buy their own home.

“Help to Buy has proved especially useful to take that first step onto the property ladder.

“Under Home Change, which can be used in conjunction with Help to Buy, we use all our expertise and contacts to help sell our buyer’s current home. We will arrange the valuations, agree a price and then market the property on their behalf. There are no estate agent fees or headaches - everything is taken care of. Our sales advisors will be on hand throughout the event to give people any information they need.”

Buyers reserving certain plots at both Sherborne Fields and Hatchwood Mill could even be in their new homes by Christmas.
