The GRIM Challenge is an 8 mile off-road challenge run on the Army's vehicle testing track in Aldershot. You will run on a mixed terrain - trails, rocky paths, sand, mud, hills and through some rather large puddles - expect to get wet!
The GRIM is running on both Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December 2009, all you have to do is choose which day!
You can enter it with your friends and run as a team; about 50% of the field does this. This event is a lot of fun with people coming back year after year for more Grimness. Approximately 40% of the field are women and many in the field walk/run it so you don't need to be super fit. Round up your mates and enter a team! There will also be individual and team prizes available on the day. We are asking participants to raise sponsorship for Wessex Heartbeat – sponsorship forms can be downloaded from: http://www.heartbeat.co.uk/UserFiles/WHB%20Sponsorship%20Form.pdf
The course is used to test Army vehicles so expect it to be interesting! You will reach a long hill shortly after the start before descending again eventually reaching a water filled ravine. You will run on over puddle-strewn paths before having to crawl under camouflage netting. You'll eventually reach some man-made mounds before arriving at and running through some rather large puddles.
Expect to get very wet! You'll run on to the fast vehicle driving circuit where it is rocky underfoot. This brings you to some more large areas of water and the finish area.
